About

Hi there! My name is Meredith, and first, I’d like to thank you for visiting my site and taking the time to read about who I am. I’m honored that you chose to spend part of your day with me.

My life centers around creativity and finding inspiration in this beautiful, messy, chaotic world we live in. Here are some of the ways I do that:

I am a musician. I play piano, guitar, ukulele, and sing (that last one is mostly in the shower and in the car, but the occasional coffee house night or small-time talent show has found me nervously stepping on stage). Music is my first passion and my first love, and I have played piano since I was about two years old. Music is the universal language, and there are very few things in this world that are more beautiful to me.

I am a writer. I grew up in a family of writers, so my desire to tell stories is fundamentally a part of who I am. I am the first to say that words sometimes are not enough, but words are both our greatest weapon and greatest source of healing.

I am an artist. Not by paint or colored pencils or fancy drawings (at least not well), but by the things I create through my thoughts and hands that translate into words on a page and music in the air, and through the lens of my camera, which I have affectionately named Tauriel. (Yes, I am a nerd.)

I am a reader. I have a shamelessly (shamefully?) large amount of books on my bookshelf that I have yet to read, and probably another 25-30 in boxes that I have already read and loved. Reading and writing go hand-in-hand, so you can expect to find lots of books and journals in my room (to the resigned exasperation of my parents, who say I have too much stuff).

I am a little sister and a big sister. This role calls for a certain ability to annoy the heck out of people who are stuck with me, which I proudly boast of, but it also calls for a level of compassion, encouragement, patience, and gentleness that I think is hard to find anywhere else. My brothers are all older, wiser, and smarter than me (in some ways), and I can always count on them to be in my corner (and I in theirs). They have taught me how to be fiercely protective, how to love unconditionally and without hesitation, and how to relentlessly pursue the beautiful and challenging. My little sister is also smarter, wittier, and far more compassionate than I am, and it is one of my greatest joys in life to be her big sister. (I won’t say anything else about her, because she doesn’t like us writing about her on the Internet.)

Oh, I suppose I should mention that I’m a college graduate from Azusa Pacific University (Cougars, what up?! …Yeah, I’m not into sports.) working toward a Master’s Degree in Social Work at Fordham University.

I could probably go on and on about who I am, but I’ll let the rest of my blog speak to that. (Plus, writing this was extremely difficult, as I don’t like talking about myself.) I hope that this snapshot of who I am helps you read my posts with a certain frame of mind. Thanks for reading and I hope you join me on this journey!
